America has been trying Iran since 1979 and talking about war since 9/11 with Israel trying to finesse a president into wiping them out for them. You think they weren't prepared for their only and biggest opp for all those years?

A LOT of similarities to Vietnam because they're both proxy wars because super powers don't directly fight each other so they support unofficially. Only difference is that China is the opposite super power instead of Russia this time.
The concerning similarities are that the American people don't support the war, The president said he won't pull out, the enemy has a terrain advantage that has no work around = recipe for disaster and if Iran starts letting ships through the strait if they settle in Yuan and not petrodollars then the US loses globally. Trump's arrogance has him backed into a corner. His only play is false flags,draft, or nuke and China (the other super power) won't let him use a nuke.
There’s a reason why no other president wanted smoke with Iran since the revolution in 1979. Israel wants a failed state ala Iraq, Syria, Libya but Iran seemingly has been cooking up strategy for drawing down the intercept missile stock piles of Israel and US and being in a target rich environment. Also the multiple warhead supersonic missiles they’ve been hiding easily sneaking thru the iron dome defense.
