It is clear as day this dude knows absolutely nothing about inside nba news every single year but yet espn still employs this fool.

He is useless and ALWAYS wrong.

Who is he smashing at Espn to keep this gig

I think it's a mix of him just being a company guy, and management really being convinced that he is their primary insider. Also, what he essentially does is regurgitate shyt that's already out there anyway. So, he NEVER breaks news. He's simply their go-to NBA guy for reporting shyt we already know from the social space because it has to be placed on-air for reporting purposes.

I don't watch ESPN, but you can't help seeing him somewhere because they plaster him all over the network at this time of year and during the trade deadline. I hate it.

I gave up on even reading for following any of these insiders. At this time of year most of these dudes just throw out bullshyt to keep their names out there.

As far as Broussard I think dude's official title should be content provider. Basically he throws a bullshyt rumor from his anonymous sources, which leads to ESPN having something to talk about during what is one of the slowest news periods during the year. So his rumors will lead to one or two segments on every show for the hosts to talk about the scenario thrown out in the rumor. Another segment where another "insider" can come on and either agree with or refute the rumor thrown out there. Their dream scenario is for the player, agent, or team to come out and debunk the rumor which gives them more content to fill segments with.

I think ESPN probably knows it's bullshyt but he brings eyes to their product with his shameless bullshyt. They'd rather be able to use their own people as a source for the rumor compared to Broussard going elsewhere and their shows having to mention his rumors and reference him and give light to another station or website.

I don't watch much ESPN at all but I listen to their NBA podcasts. They never have Broussard on NBA Lockdown, True Hoop or the Jump or any of Zach Lowe's stuff. They always have guys like Stein on so I get the feeling he's not really used or treated like an insider because those guys never use him. Think he has some sources but these days everybody does, even guys like Lowe who aren't reporters because they talk to all sorts of asst coaches and execs all the time.

You gotta realize Chris Broussard is the equivalent of that guy who really isn't that good at his job, but still tows the company line. ESPN's NBA staff is essentially a skeleton crew right now and they can't afford to lose another NBA guy. So essentially Chris Broussard is basically better than having nothing at all.
