It is easy for them. It is either the truth goes counter to their economic interests (The Leaders). The truth goes against their belief that God has it all under control (Religious). Last, the truth hinders their ability to continue to make money in the only fields of work they know how to do (Laborers). In the end, it basically breaks down to them being against the truth, because it goes against their own self-interests.

Only outright experiencing the effects may cause some of them to change their position, since a lot of them only care about what affects them directly.

It barely snowed in the northeast going on three winters straight now. There were days in Feb. where it was like 65 degrees. None of that is normal. I didn't get into the other regions.

Bc most climate change deniers are from the south, and it's ALWAYS been hot here.
Always over 100 degrees in Dallas for 30-60 straight days in the summer. Ain't nothing new

Yes, but the problem is that it's not just individuals being delusional, but entire societies. Look at how we dealt with the covid pandemic. At first it was "we've got to learn to live with the virus", but now it's "we live with the virus without learning anything". And we're doing the exact same thing with the climate crisis. We're doing nothing to prevent it from getting worse, we're doing nothing to adapt to it, we just try to continue as if everything was normal until we run out of water and food and civilization collapses because our infrastructure isn't prepared for the world we're going to live in
