It varies.

I'm a black manager for a large cpg giant and there aren't many of us.

The black women definitely are checking for you.

The most of the brehs are cool as shyt but 1 or 2 are definitely on that :mjpls:

But unless someone wrongs me personally, I'm still rooting for everybody black:manny:
yeah this one milf gave me the biggest smile once she found out I was a black person working in I.T.

You test the waters. If they respond to the head nod, you see what music they like, and what part of the town they from.

It's funny, I'm traveling for work and I'm at this sales meeting. Previously, I was in supply chain, hell...I really am still in supply chain, but I see why the uninitiated have the perceptions of black people in the corporate world that they do. Some are a little goofy. Not all...some. But that's all people. Black people, white, indian people, chinese people...some are cool, some are on the fukk shyt.
you talking other blacks who may think they are white washed or c00nish or talking about white people?

In my experience, half of them are coöns. Especially the women. Especially the non FBA women.

My first job was working in a govt office. All the Black women were cool af. Every single one of them.

Then I went to a corporate job and of the few Black women, two were cool, but the other was a certified wench. All the Black men, some FBA and others Caribbean and Nigerian, were cool.

I just started a new job and we have two Black people training us. The Brotha is cool, but the woman is definitely on some :mjpls:
I can tell she’s the type to snitch on a breh.

I think the fewer Black people that are on a job, the worse it is. They see you as competition.

Well that depends on a lot of factors.

For the most part, most older/ middle aged brehs, and brehettes have been really cool towards me. That's not to say I haven't been in a few spaces where I've had older black men try and position themselves to big dog me in front of white folks. With the "tone it down" antics, overly aggressive handshakes, and shyt like that. I really thrive in social settings...One can argue that's why I have the position I have as opposed to "talent" or "work ethic". Younger brehs are cool too...They try to pick my brain, which is nice, and I try to offer as much help as I can. Younger black women on the other hand...They can be a bit :mjpls:depending on the setting. Ie conferences, golf outings and shyt where they seem to try and amplify themselves to garner attention. Although there is nuance to that as well. We hired a 30 year old almost a year ago, dead ringer for Zoe Saldana and we're pretty cool in the work environment. She was flirty at first, but once she found I was married she settled down and we work well together. CACs even assumed we were messing around because she was cool with me, and didn't hop on their dikks.

Other black folk who think black folk in the corporate world ONLY being "white-washed" or "c00nish". I never understood that. For the record, I don't subscribe to black folks acting in 1 or 2 predefined manners, but I do recognize the archetype of the c00n or being whitewashed.

I've met some black folks that had a "white-washed" persona, who were very pro-black. They just didn't lead with stereotypical black interests or had a "black" voice. Some that I'm friends with or have mentored me personally. Ironically, the president of my company is a breh...and he's a "breh", not "white-washed". He sat down with the black alliance organization and had breakfast with us a Tuesday morning and most of the conversation was candid or how we could recruit more black talent to the org. We had a good convo and are specifically targeting HBCU talent.

One problem I notice is, the moment someone does something that you don't like "they're a c00n". I've noticed some people don't have that level of discernment. That shyt is unproductive and needs to stop.

it varies...however in my department we have a microsoft teams space for fellow black people to join - we are pretty candid as hell in there lol

also there is a company wide mail list that lets us know about things from events to job listings - its a pretty damn good way of networking

What a dumbass thread. :skip:

Black folk at work wouldn't be any more or less :mjpls: than the black folk you meet going about your daily business, regardless of what type of company they for at/for. Some will be cool, some won't, and your experience with them will in part depend on what type of energy you're putting out. :usure:
I get what OP is talking about but this is the answer right here. Black people are people too with all different types of interests, motivations, and agendas.
I feel OP though because at times I've felt the same way in my early 20s. It took a lot of growth and experience for me to get out of that mindset.

i will say this...my first internship at a fortune 500 company..the first time i got paid for this IT shyt was in 2003...my first direct manager was black woman...she was a damn workaholic lol..she also at times gave me :mjpls: vibes with me and the other intern esp with how she act with the lead developer on her team who was another workaholic white dude..like she couldn't be bothered at times once she gave us work to do for the day...she wasn't the "get to know your black interns and drop knowledge on them" type..however there was another brother...that was several levels above her...bruh was upper echelon in this company..highly respected...he was the one that controlled the money for the intern programs...he used to take us out for lunch, drop some knowledge on us, pay for certain intern activities we did, and the best of all put extra in our paychecks (he didn't do for this everybody)..it took me years to really understand what he did for us...and how i try to pay it forward now that im 19 years in this industry
