the internet
it all comes down to the type of personality that appeals to you.

People who like laid back types are going to like Jay....
...on the flip side, Jay not speaking up is the same reason he has so many cats talking about he's a "snake".

with 50...if you like aggressive types that speak their mind...youre going to love him...
...on the flip side of that, those traits are the same reason people hate him.

I personally think they are both GOATS and I get inspiration from both of them.
No matter how you slice it...they turned their situations into gold.

Jay-Z comes from the era of Biggie, Big L, Jaz-O, Big Daddy Kane and so on. so that era is something else.

there's a different kind of "legend" you speak of though, 50's biggest hit is his most talked about which is In Da Club. Jay-Z's career is bigger and lasted more than that record. if we saying 50 got a diamond plaque you can say the same for Jay-Z since all of his albums are platinum. i consider 50 Cent a legend more so in the street, in hip hop he needs to make another album that really makes noise in the era to really concrete his "legacy". Eminem did it, Jay did it, he needs to do so too.

Come on 50 is just as influential as em especially if you take inconsideration the mixtapes he dropped.

well the quality of those mixtapes ain't all album material. he took people's instrumentals and added his twist to it. i'm just saying 50's fall was just as big as his rise. he doesn't even sound like he wants to rap no more. the money changed him musically. most rappers last at least 10 years on top with back to back albums. dude only got like 5 albums. Jay got like 11.

I remember debating with dudes in the early 2000s about Jay's greatness. Dudes would always throw some flash in the pan rapper to argue their point LOL
