Clausen was so much more dominant than his HS counterparts, cause he was groomed to be a QB...and had an insanely higher football IQ than most HS players.

The main knock on him coming out of college, was that he pretty much already hit his ceiling for potential....you dont remember that?

Yeah u right but i still think if he was as good as expected he would have still had a dominating college career and would have been a top ten pick in the draft. I just think he was overhyped and a lot of his success in high school was due to him having a loaded team with a gang of D-1 recruits.

This.

He was never really that good, he played in Thousand Oaks, bunch of preppy boys who get hype from the media cause their dad works for the studios and they have legit coaches, but athletically they'd get DESTROYED by the city teams. Dude came from a rich home, and was groomed (private qb coaches, best facilities) and expected to be great, soon as he got to college, boy flopped hard. He'd never seen that level of competition. and you can forget about the NFL.

See people like Peyton, Carson, Cassell, they really do have raw talent. They could hit targets from every where with pinpoint accuracy. Jimmy really never had that and they hid it well. You hype something long enough in a small town, everyone will believe it, problem is on a national stage you actually have to prove it.

28TDs and 4 picks as a junior in college, drafted in the second round.

Dude may not have been the Lebron James of football, but he wasn't a bum in college, got drafted in the 2nd round and is now a backup QB in the NFL. The only QBs drafted before him were Sam Bradford #1 overall, and Tim Tebow.
He's probably never going to be a great QB in the NFL, but you can say the same about 99% of the QBs who come out of high school with hype.
