How is Ready To Die better than Reasonable Doubt? Why is Big supposedly better overall?

RTD or RD

Pusha T explained it better than I ever could.

"Some rappers just say a punchline, and it's like, "OK, we get it." But Big delved deep. He was a master painter with words. And his flow was just so effortless. I mean, I think I'm an awesome writer, but my bars still sound like bars. Big had all these intricacies, all these colors, all these witty things – and it didn't sound like a rap. It was a conversation."

That to me is why BIG is the GOAT.

Like I said I'm not mad if someone prefers rd to rtd

I think you're downplaying how polished of an mc big was though
I'd say he's incredibly polished on LAD, no debating that.
But on a lot of songs on this he seemed stuck on a 1,2 flow that was carried by how he boomed his voice imo.
Just really rough especially compared to Jay.
And his use of his voice carried on later In his music but I feel like it was an improvement then and used to accentuate his already a1 rhymes like on Young G's or Victory or Kick In The Door.

Op knew he couldn't do a "N*ggas Bleed" vs whatever Jay song of his choice cause its one of the greatest hip hop songs ever and Jay has no track comparable to it or the masterful story telling showcased :banderas:

How you mention all those BIG songs yet not one of, if not BIGs best song :stopitslime:

fukk outta here

We're comparing RTD not LAD and I already think that songs amazing, much better than any storytelling on RTD.
Also I said Friend Or Foe 96 is good enough for me.

I did ask that because I don't think it's true even though he's in my top five and I love Life After Death.
I don't see a single thing that puts him above Hov other than storytelling.

I copped RTD when I was 14 and when I was 16 I got a friend to let me hold his RD tape when he told me it was fire. I thought Jay's joint was smooth and it's really hard to compare the two albums because the vibe is different for me. But Big's shyt invoked more emotion, more head nods to the beat and overall I just had an admiration for the niccas talent and his struggle I never got from RD. So from my perspective I can't see Jay's shyt messing with RTD.

I like both but let's be real. RTD was an instant classic. RD became a classic after Jay kept pleading its care for years:yeshrug:
Real shyt. RTD was a classic organically...it seems like it's taken years of people trying to beat you over the head that RD is a classic...and that's the strongest evidence that it never was.

Stopped reading when i saw Brooklyn finest better than Machine Gun fukk. :laff: :laff: :laff:

Same here. I'm being totally honest too because I literally stopped at that point and just did a quick skim at the rest of the article lol.

Also biggie had better rhyme schemes and syllable placement than jay (which is something I value more than double entendres tbh). I don't get the criticism that he sounded "rough" because he was really polished in those categories
