Most reliable stats are probably some combination of xFIP/FIP, SIERA/ERA+, WHIP(in conjunction with BABIP). You won't find guys like AJ Burnett on the top of those lists.

Keep in mind those stats were used to determine Shermans measurement, that is why being burned once or twice by any reciever doesnt damage his overall statistics.

I cant speak for this season but I think it has to do with number of interceptions. If you are a rb and have the most yards...chances are you are the best rb in the league. So if youre a db, and have the most number of int...you are the best.

@ ints being used as a metric to decide whos the best db.

Ints are the stats people bring up when people dont watch football.

Football is not baseball. The stats do not tell the story. Thats why you have qbs who pick up huge chunks of yards in garbage time but when the game actually mattered they sucked.
