If they don’t think he’s ready when he gets to the League, send him to the G-League. If he needs time to fill out, get him on a weight program. If he needs to sit on the bench to learn, sit his ass on the bench.
If HE wants to be great, he’ll do what it takes to get there, whether he’s in the NCAA or NBA next year. And if he can’t get there, he still lands comfortably because he got paid when the chance presented itself.
