Hopefully people can shut up about Atlanta making a mistake, like this guy could be special too. He's not going to be the next Curry - hell, Curry didn't really become Curry until his 4th season and even that season was pretty mild compared to what he's become recently - but Trae will be his own player with the potential to leave his own mark on the league.

Him, Collins, and this year's pick will be a nice core going forward.
He is not Steph. He is the next Zeke Thomas with Steve Nash passing potential with deep range on his shot

Trae is a true PG and don't leave out Huerter as a part of our core

Keep forgetting about Huerter. I saw the Hawks/Heat game in person and was impressed with his play

Not looking forward to ticket prices going up but I like this team's potential going forward.

He is a Hawk, we all get the worst treatment by the media. Trae been putting up some of the best numbers overall from a true PG ever as a rookie. He gonna win several MVPs and some.

Hypothetical

Say the trade never happens - Luka is a Hawk and Trae is in Dallas.

They are putting up same numbers (esp the past month or so) -

Would it be Trae highlights in Dallas because everyone hates Atlanta/Hawks

Or would Luka be getting highlights as Hawks because of :mjpls:

ATLANTAAtlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was named the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for January, it was announced today. The first-year guard from the University of Oklahoma previously won the award for contests played in November, making him the first Hawks player to receive multiple Rookie of the Month honors since Al Horford during the 2007-08 season (Nov., Feb., March).

Young led all first-year players in the East with 18.7 points and 7.2 assists per game in January, becoming the first rookie to average at least 18.0 points and 7.0 assists in 10-or-more games in any month since John Wall in March 2011. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Young recorded the four highest single-game assist totals of the month among Eastern Conference rookies and compiled five-of-the-top-10 single-game scoring totals on his way to outscoring his nearest conference classmate by more than five points per game.

On Jan. 15, Young finished a 142-126 victory over Oklahoma City with 24 points and 11 assists, becoming the youngest player (20 years, 118 days) with six 20-point/10-assist games in a single season since LeBron James in 2005 (20 years, 20 days).

From Jan. 26-28, Young became the first NBA rookie to record two consecutive contests with at least 26 points, 10 field goals made and eight assists since Stephen Curry in 2010, per the Elias Sports Bureau. Young’s efforts established him as the youngest NBA player with back-to-back games with those minimums since LeBron James (20 years, 33 days) in 2005.

From Jan. 26-30, Young became the second Atlanta player ever to record three consecutive contests with at least 23 points and eight assists, and the first rookie to compile three straight games with at least 23 points and eight assists since Darren Collison from 2/8/10-2/17/10.

Earlier this week, NBA assistant coaches selected Young and teammate John Collins to participate in the MTN DEW ICE Rising Stars during All-Star Weekend on Friday, Feb. 15 at Spectrum Center in Charlotte.

The Hawks take on the Jazz tonight at 9 p.m. ET on FOX Sports Southeast.

But the Coli said he was a bust? :lupe: @42 Monks @Darealtwo1 @Box Factory can you help me understand why he keeps winning? :lupe:

He won it November while playing horrendously. So I'm not sure "keeps winning" is accurate as you would like to pretend it is.

He's played well (offensively. Still probably among the least athletic and worst defenders in the history of the NBA) for the last couple weeks I guess.

Still a giant bust to me and never will be a lead guard for a competitive team that wins games.

He was terrible in November so winning it then is irrelevant.

I acknowledged he played better offensively over the last lil stretch.

He's still highly flawed. Probably to the point that he could never be a useful starting piece to a team trying to win games.

Maybe as a backup guard, IF he works really hard and becomes a bad defender as opposed to being one of the worst ever that he is now

What’s going to help Trae going forward is to put that work in with a strength and conditioning coach. He will need that to become more consistent with his jumper.

According to stats from NBA.com, Young is producing some of the best numbers among rookies this season since December 23. Trae has played 29 games (5 more than Luka) and is second in scoring at 19 points per game. He is shooting better from the field than Doncic (43.1 percent to 42.5 percent) and is playing the sixth-most minutes of any rookie over that time (31.3 minutes per game).

Trae is tops in assists over that period over Doncic with 8.1 per game, sixth in steals (1.0 per game) and surprisingly 8th in rebounds with 3.9 per contest.

However, much of the hype surrounding Doncic revolves around his ability to hit extremely eye-popping, highlight-reel stepback three-pointers. Would it surprise you to learn that since December 23, Trae Young is shooting 37.9 percent from long range on 6 attempts per game. By comparison over that time, Luka is shooting 33.2 percent on 8 attempts per game.

But the Coli told me he was a bust :damn:
