I predict that they'll ease up on restrictions in mid May.

that’s only if infection rates and deaths don’t continue skyrocketing through May. If it slows down I can see it happening, but if not, I doubt it. There isn’t a vaccine yet, so I don’t see them loosening up with restrictions unless things get better.

How long do you think this lockdown period with no mass gatherings is going to last?

It don't matter. Once the weather starts to heat up, people are gonna be out and about.

There are quite a few people on my block alone who live with other people and basically are living like this when they go inside:

"I'm staying with my auntie". A bunch of grown ass people crammed up in a 2br apt.

They are all out in the street hanging out and whatnot...because they don't want to be in the house, regardless of the pandemic.

realistically? If you're paying attention to projections and the real statistics coming out of Italy and France, America is like 2-3 days behind that, maybe even less. China is fabricating their numbers so I don't even bother with them, Iran has had mass graves for 2 weeks. If we're behind the curve, we're quarantined till June. Even then, there's no vaccine, nothing returns to "normal". The fear will be real, by then the people who downplayed all of this will have either seen what we will see happen in April/May and either come to terms with how deadly this is and how ill prepared we are as a country, both in supplies and in our ability to "come together" in combating the realities of getting sick/spreading what you have without knowing it that they'll either not want to leave their home until they feel safe or say fukk it and try to live their lives despite most the country either still being locked down, normal services not continuing or the bodies continue piling up. If we had tests ready to go and we were on our way to a vaccine back in January/early February I don't think we'd be here, but that also means we had a functioning national government with people who actually gave a shyt about their citizens. We don't have that. It's going to get worse before it gets better and we haven't even seen bad yet before we've gotten to worse.

Nothing is stopping people from being out and about now...it's just nothing is open...only difference in the summer is parks,beaches...they could technically put law enforcement around those as well..

You can go have a kick back, hang out with your people right now, nothing is stopping that..
