I know a lot of people who have been engaged for at least 3 years. I thought that was a long time, but it seems to be becoming the norm so :ehh:

Sometimes people book reception venues like 2 years in advance. Its insane. Mine will be a year and a half. Can't imagine getting everything booked and all that in less amounts of time. It's a big production these days. It's way too overblown and expensive.

i would not want to be engaged more than six months but i don't want a big wedding. maybe something in his parents backyard with a dozen or two guests and home cooked food. for someone who wants a big wedding it will take much longer

i've learned about investing too much money in events that last a few hours :to:

Everyones relationship is different. With that said, 2 years is max for me. If I were engaged longer than that what is the point of even getting engaged?

+1

People spend so much time planning their wedding, they forget to plan their MARRIAGE. If you're ready to get married.. it should only take a few months after he pops the question. I don't understand the need to wait for the ''perfect venue'' ''the perfect dress'' and the rest of that. A simple wedding where the both of you spend more time going over your vows and preparing yourself for the trials of marriage instead of focusing on frivolous things it the best approach, IMO.

As long as those two people feel like being engaged. It's not for anyone else to decide. Forcing ppl to conform to society's 'norms' is as bad as expecting ppl to perpetuate stereotypes. What happens in a relationship btwn two ppl is their business and they are free to move at their own pace.

It depends on how long they can save up to pay cash for the wedding.

I would probably wait a year but the small and inexpensive wedding scenario is a good idea. :shaq:
