If everything played out the same (injuries, schedule), yes. Again, let's not act like Westbrook's performance last season wasn't without criticism.

What's stupid about the talking point?
The season Russ was out for an extended period, KD had an MVP season and lead the Thunder to a 2nd place finish in the West. Russ couldn't even make an 8th place finish despite being the leader of the team for majority of the season. I believe the contrast is clear. If the roles were reversed, KD would have taken OKC to the playoffs last year.

It's stupid because they didn't make the playoffs because of their offense (top 5 in the league without Durant) - it was their defense (bottom 5) because Ibaka was out for the last quarter of the season and Kanter was his replacement. If Ibaka was injured at the same time Westbrook was out during Durant's MVP run, they wouldn't have won as many games as they did. Ibaka's impact is severely underrated in the success of this team.

Their defense was rated 16th in the league, not bottom 5, while their offense was rated 10th in the league. Ibaka also roughly missed the same amount of games as Westbrook. I maintain that KD would have taken the same team to the playoffs. Westbrook was shooting at a 42% clip (30% from 3-point range). While the box score looked good, and the stretch of triple doubles was impressive, he was inefficient in many games.They couldn't get in over a weak Pelicans team and this while being the best rebounding team in the whole league.
