:jbhmm:rappers have no influence on kids/young adults behaviour but yet for some strange reason politicians seek them out during election season....

At this point, denying hip hops influence on drug use by glorification is disingenuous. It is what it is

It’s not these peoples jobs to be role models obviously, but to deny its existence entirely is a fallacy

There’s a myriad of causes that inspire people to do whatever. Is music the biggest one? No, but it’s a component that’s definitely there.

Well I expect everyone to have ever listened to future to try drugs?

Since that obviously didn’t happen what’s the difference between the people that listened to future and did drugs and the ones that didn’t?

that’s not how influence works

Look at Travis Scott. One of the biggest fashion influencers in the world.. he can wear a pair of $40 dollar Walmart Nikes and they’d instantly sellout.. it’s literally happened. does that mean everyone who has ever listened to a Travis verse now dresses like him?

Obviously not.. However, would you deny the fact that he does indeed influence millions of peoples wardrobes?

There’s entire IG pages based on his outfits and where to purchase the items he wears. Influence is influence, I’m sorry to break that to you. Like I said, musicians aren’t responsible for being positive role models, but to deny their influence in everything, including drug glorification, is disingenuous. It just is what it is. There’s bytches out here chopping their faces up to look like Kardashians because they’re fukking fans. Get real.. that’s just the world we live in unfortunately.

Kids were literally eating tide pods a few years ago because people with influence did it.

Are you comparing trying clothes to trying drugs?

you clearly missed the part about women getting surgery to look like their favorite influencer, and young adults literally eating laundry detergent and killing themselves because someone with influence did it

we literally live in a society where if an Eat-shyt-out-of-a-toilet challenge went viral, you’d have a million people around the world recording themselves eating doo doo, and you’re sitting here acting like the idea of youngins trying a drug because their favorite musicians glorify it is farfetched

All of this stuff predates social media and rap music
