If you can't defend in today's era, how do you expect to stay on the court from the SG position. Also, Jeff wasn't very quick, Jeff wasn't long, and Jeff who was a scorer when the SG position looked more like him and less like it does today is really just a shooter in today's NBA. How do you expect him to start? I am pretty sure if we gave J.J. or Kyle the red light and put them in the NBA at the SG position in the 80's, they would be dropping 20ppg but this isn't the 80's. The SG position is loaded with guys who can score with great athletic ability and guys who can defend if they can't score. This ain't the 90's where things were slowly going to an athletic game, this isn't the 80's where all teams had solid spacing. There is a reason why Phil wants to NBA to spread the court because nikkas are too long nowadays. You really think nikkas like J.J. and Kyle can't hit a mid range jumper? :troll: They can, they just going v. long ass super defending nikkas today which wasn't the case even in 1998. This is a different NBA, you need to learn that, that's why you looking stupid thinking you smart. :why: :laff:
:lupe: you really comparing JJ and Kyle to Hornacek as shooters??? What SG today great athletic ability that can score? 95% these bum niccas know how to shoot a fukking basketball . Better yet, how many shooting guards are scoring 17PPG+ while shooting over 45% from the field.

:childplease: and there aint no hand checking either.

A little off topic but I was just thinking the other night what type of numbers would Marcus Camby put up if he played in the same era as Wilt?

Since I came in this thread i should make some decent attempt to give my opinion on Hornacek too...like most of u are saying, i think his numbers would be similar but a little lower.

And since D wade has been brought up...Im not saying he'd be better then Wade but I think he'd be more valuable during this playoff run as the SG of the Heat. His game would better compliment Lebron, dudes shooting and intangibles were maxed out.

And for two little cacs, Stockton and Hornacek could defend. Especially Stockton
good question about the camby during wilt era dude mighta avg 30 rebs :manny:

Yes I am at the SG position. Hornecek was better because he had PG skills which the other two are mainly off ball shooters. With that said, him at the SG position would give him some issues due to the length and ability. He will either go up v. guys which freakish athletic ability and talent or he will go up v. defensive stoppers like Thabo S.

It doesn't change the fact that Jeff is better, it just puts it into perspective of how is he even going to defend.

I hate when nikkas like you cherry pick a comment to start posting your bullshyt. Respond like a man, not like a bytch. Crack babies I'll tell ya :mindblown:

Don't even talk about shooting% in constast. If you look at the shooting percentages of the 80's and 90's, it is much higher. Then you break down tape and you see exactly why. nikkas are much longer, quicker, and harder to shoot over than they were in the 90's and much more so than the 80's. Sometimes you cats show your complete lack of knowledge for the game. It's tragic.

When I read that I literally had the:huhldup: face:pachaha: Same with the Wade comparison:heh: But in his prime dude could score. Not just with his shooting either. He wasn't Iverson but he was quick with some handles prior to being traded to the jazz. He was a smart player and always knew where to be on the court.

Even though this thread isn't about defense,he would still survive in today's game. Obviously he wouldn't be able to guard these guys one on one but how many can. Stick him in pop's system and he could play good team defense. Plus he was a feisty defender in his suns/sixers years. He'll have nights where he gets torched but the 90's was filled with high scoring 2 guards and he survived that era:yeshrug:
I agree, he would be perfect if he started for the Spurs and replaced Gary Neal for example. Jeff could hoop, he wasn't just shooter but he damn near would be one in most NBA situations today which is why I said unless he had Dwight or played for the Spurs, he would likely be misused. The NBA back then was good at putting players in the right fit because teams didn't have an issue getting rid of you if you didn't fit what they were looking for. In today's NBA, it is all about gaining assets and even if that player doesn't fit like Cousins or Josh Smith, you keep him because of his talent and he's an asset. That's the one thing I miss about the NBA then. Teams were dumber but it made the NBA better because you were able to put the right role players around your team. In today's NBA, you are kinda stuck with what cha got tilll the draft. Rarely are any moves of significant made in today's NBA.

:russ: Dawg stop it. Stockton man on man defense was flawed as hell. He would get killed anytime you put a very quick PG in front of him. It wasn't like the 90's had a ton but in the 2010's, very damn team aside from the Larry Holmes Knicks have an uber quick PG. Dawg, ya'll nikkas need to stop posting. This shyt is embarrassing to read.

On open court reggie, Kenny and all them spoke very highly of Stocktons defense. You musta only seen Stockton his last few years :stopitslime:

 Your trolling has got to stop bruh...Teams back then were more organized. 00s and 10s was the decades of bum ass niccas takin a lot of shot and shooting low percentage(under 45%). because they were scoring over 20ppg, Teams were dumb enough to think them bum ass niccas were superstars and paid them as such....:aicmon:

fukk outta here with your "today" bullshyt. Players today got no fundamentals can't even consistently shoot a jumper. You got niccas that are fast and athletic but can't shot a J to save their life :russ:. they can get streaky every now and then but after that they will be back to shooting bricks again.

Fundamentals is why GOAT players like Bean and Duncan can still make 1st team ALL NBA.:smugfavre:

Considering the fact that he was knocking a young spurs squad out the playoffs and this same nikka Duncan is now making all nba 1st team and headed to the finals 20 years later I'd say that jazzy Jeff would put up better numbers today against these wack ass 2 guards we have today. How many 2 guards today are actually good outside of wade , kobe and harden? ....... Monta? :gag: Klay? :smh: 2 guards are weak as fukk now.

With the new rules and soft defense everybody in the league is playing now, Horacek would average at least 27 ppg

he had more post moves than Howard and more heart than Durrant. He wouldn't look as old as wade is looking now.

Seriously how old are you guys?

:salute:

Add in the death of real big men, not much comp overall, the death of big men wanting to be big men, small ball and heavy focus on the 3 ball...todays NBA is wack.

Hornacek was nice in his day, he would hold his own these days against this current crop. Ppl always wanna bring up athletecism( cant spell right now:dead:) but the over all lack of fundamentals some of these current players have would keep alot more of the roleplayers from other eras afloat in the league today:yeshrug:
