HBCUs should drop their sports programs almost entirely.

Yeah. If you compare the landscape back then to now, it was a lot more practical to say "Hey, <generational talent>, just get it in at this HBCU and you'll go pro regardless" 30-40 years ago. Nowadays you've got high school prep programs that have definitively better facilities than most HBCUs. Once you bring in power conference schools into the equation, you're asking kids to simply accept risk with nothing other to offer than "but you'll help your community we think". And if people wanted help for their communities, genuinely, then they wouldn't be laying it all on teenage athletes to carry the torch.

They know what they're doing

But like I've said before... they don't care.
Of course they don't. I'm going off of a poster making excuses for his college football avi while patting himself on the back for joining the NFL boycott. Too many fake nikkas on here.

....okay?

HBCUs been getting hammered for years. You want some kid to wager the future of his entire family for the chance to revitalize institutions that have collectively come up short for decades? Sports don't run the world. They also almost never pay the bills unless you're a major school. For more of these top picks to come to schools, those schools need to have their shyt together first.

You can't name the last individual player to turn around an entire college's standing. It doesn't work that way.

Steve McNair, Jerry Rice... yeah they really sacrificed everything. It's a damn shame there are no HBCU players in the NFL.

I agree with your premise, but this isn't true though.

Temmerick Hemingway ( tight end rams), and Javon Hargrave ( starting DT for steelers) are HBCU graduates ( South Carolina State university).

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
This is what I don't get. HBCUs were created because of segregation. Baseball use go be segregated.. But we somehow found away to develop talent.

People need to stop making it seem like ALL HBCUs are in shambles. That's such bullshyt. And the white people that control the NFL and major college programs have embedded the notion that you have to go to a major college to get drafted.

Black basketball players figured out they didn't even need to go to college to go to the NBA and the white powers that be eventually shut that shyt down. Think of all of the talent schools like Kentucky and Duke would miss out on if players could go straight to the pros.

And it's the black players that get punished the most. It's the black players that are always involved in controversy.

And yes. I made several HBCU threads in the past and I will keep making them just to give people a reality check.

Ask the high-profile coaches with NFL pedigree & connections to coach at HBCU's then. :ld:

These major schools have generated so much money off the recruitment of black athletes to where the playing field is just not level.

Not to mention there is zero unity. Alum don't even care to give back. It's all about self preservation and only living for today and not the future. We as a people don't know nothing about generational wealth and legacy.

In other words, the solution isn't as simple as hiring a high profile coach.

Calipari system is 100% focused on getting as many players as he can into the NBA as soon as possible and you see how so many people have a problem with it.

Calipari is overrated. The players that go to Kentucky prop him up. Each incoming class is inspired to go there by previous classes. When's the last white player calipari coached that got drafted :mjpls:

One could say calipari got rich off the strength of the players that chose to go to a school who's arena is named after a racist coach.
