I don't think so. they've served similar purposes as projectile weapons in human history (magic isn't real, but neither are 'laser guns'), and they're also similar as far as gameplay mechanics

these games aren't simulating gunpowder combustion. you push a button, and it sends out a projectile. many of the 'guns' in video games are completely fictional, and only serve the purpose of being a projectile weapon
