Is there even physical media (e.g. blu rays) that outputs 4K resolution?
Not yet, just upscaling bd players. I shot some 4K video with my Galaxy S5, loaded it on a jump drive and played it on a Samsung 4K set, picture quality is amazing, level of detail, crispness, and color stunning, coming from a cell phone. I definitely think it will be well worth it once we get physical media with 4K on it.

My plan was to pick one up before christmas, however I need Dolby Atmos more than I need 4K, Denon receiver is calling me........

Hopefully in a few years we will be having these same convos about 8K. 33 MP

Yea, with the resolution of most camera's nowadays you can definitely pull some full res shots and notice the detail, and just use the frames and get serious quality. Hell I have an old Canon EOS 30D that I shoot with, 8MP sensor with a max resolution of 3504 x 2336, with 4K monitor I can work on RAW or jpg images full size without have to zoom in and out with photoshop to edit.

I mean right now u have something like a measly D3300, downscaling still benefits from the higher resolution, but downscaling less will let u see more. Lot of photo brehs really love the 4K shyt. If I can get a cheapish one for Xmas I might do that.

I can't front, I'm looking for 2 laptops and a 4K TV. Right now the only TV we have is a 37 inch in the living room and the bedroom TV just went out. Looking to move the 37 inch into the bedroom and get a 60 inch or better 4K TV for the living room. I just figured to go ahead and get it now and hopefully not have to buy another TV for a few years. My wife likes the curved TV's but I don't really care. I just want it to be 4K, but it's whatever.

Naw there is a big difference breh, so you saying the imax movies look the same as the regular ones? If so your eyes have failed youright i dont get why everything gotta be the best of the best quality. its all marginal upscales at most.
i still get 720p rips of moviesless space and it looks fine
