It's coke "syrup" that's mixed with water as it is dispensed (worked in fast food), so it's sweeter and more concentrated than the bottled shyt.

Because they sell a lot it doesn't sit around as long. So the Coke syrup at McDonald's is fresher than their competitors. Fresher syrup makes better tasting fountain drinks. McDonald's also controls freshness by cleaning everything daily.

You'll notice soda at pizza places are a lot better for this same reason
