Yea from what I can find online it is the same formula.

That's where it makes me question this whole rollout because based on the study you linked, to me it seems like pushing out the same booster (and there's studies showing the booster immunity wanes after 10 weeks) is not a realistic option going forward. You're never going to get enough ppl to get the original vax, much less subsequent boosters every 6 months or whatever. It's just not a realistic endgame. Especially when one of the original selling points was that the vaccine could be easily adapted to new variants.

Given how many double vaxed and/or boosted ppl seem to be getting symptomatic infections right now (again anecdotal we'll see how the real numbers pan out I guess in the next month or so) this seems to be a good candidate for getting a new formula out.

Common sense usually tries to link 2 events to make a causal relationship between said events but it doesn't really work with science because there are so many other events at play that the average person doesn't consider.

For one, antibodies always wane whether it be from infection or from vaccination. That's actually normal and imo the media is too concerned about antibodies when there is more to the immune system than that. In the mean time your body is developing memory B cells which are going through somatic hypermutation which will deal future variants. Yes, our immune system is evolved enough to deal with future variants so next time you get infected with covid your new memory B cells will create better antibodies to deal with whatever variant you see. This is part of the reason effectiveness against severe disease and hospitalization has remained high for the vaccines.

Another reason we haven't had the need to roll out a new formula is that the T cell epitopes have remained the same for all of the variants which makes sense because they're all from the same germ line.

T cell responses remain broadly robust against Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2

Repped bruh for posting.

To add on what people didn't understand in the first place why we needed so many people to be vaccinated in the first place bc it left us vulnerable to mutations. Think of it like a game of telephone. Covid was the original message and it was being told from person to person. Same message but the message was making people sick. The scientist looked at the original message and found the "lie" and created a way to alter the message and allow people to not be affected by the message in the same way, i.e. "the truth". This was the vaccine.

Now people are getting the "truth" but there were tons of people spreading the message with the lie. Now you have both the truth and you have the lie in the environment. Problem is the lie was like okay, all these people are getting the truth, and the lie changed itself a bit, thus Lie #2. Which is problematic b/c the truth was meant for Lie #1, not Lie #2. If everyone took the truth originally, the chances of us having Lie #2 diminishes, note I didn't say it disappears. The truth and lie #1 and lie #2 now both exist. Lie #2 is just too juicy and is spreading like wildfire.

I hope that makes sense.

Feel free to correct my analogy if incorrect bc I want to make sure I'm saying the right stuff as well.

Vaccine doesn't inject the virus into you it just tells your DNA to make cells the resemble the virus
your immune system sees the new cells and fights it which explains the shot symptoms
your body now has a memory on how to fight the real thing
and it can attack it and kill it better than before getting the shot

Hoping they use MRNA to cure everything
So wrong…. The vaccine does not cause DNA to make new cells. Cells have nothing to do with it and you’d be crazy to take something causing you to make new cells.

I thought the same thing until I started reading up on this due to the pandemic.

The vaccines can fight diseases that aren't viruses by mimicking binding proteins of the disease and causing the body to have a defensive reaction.

For example, cancer vaccines trigger something called tumor-associated antigens. Basically, a cancer vaccine sends a fake binding protein into your body that acts like a cancer tumor/cell so that your body learns how to fight it, which prevents cancer later if you develop cancer in your cells because the body can recognize the tumorous cells and fight them.

The Alzheimer's one works differently, but I can't remember how. I think it triggers the body to block a protein that, when created, leads to memory loss, but I need to re-read the study to be totally sure.
Anyone thinking mRNA vaccines or any vaccine could cure cancer is severely naive and uninformed for the same reason CART which is currently being used struggles with blood cancers and does shhiit for tumors.

Valiant effort by these doctors and intellects trying to convince anti-vax, general dim witted population of what the vaccine does. And how the body works, etc

When the focus, unfortunately, always veers towards how the vaccine will make your ass fall off or it will eat you from within. Its hard enough getting past that point.

and im all for healthy skepticism but the numbers are there. The smart nikkas in the classroom are telling you the answers. And since when dont we cheat off the smart nikkas in the classroom?

Off topic

may be a dumb question

Coli Doctors / Scientists

so why can’t this method cure cancer and AIDS
Cancer: think of it as ..when the body is insulted by environmental substances or shyts that's inherited..some genes misbehave by turning themselves on when they supposed to be off or vice versa....results in cells multiplying faster or dying slower than they should.

Viruses: like what breh in OP said..antibodies attach to the invading virus and try destroy it. Viral proteins are then presented at the headquarters (lymph nodes, spleen) etc where more immune cells specific to fight the virus are produced.

HIV hijacks out protein making machinery to make more virus while attacking cd4 t cells which are important for our immune defences. That constant attack and hijacking of our protein machinery eventually weakens the body making us vulnerable to opportunist pathogens.

That's why HIV+ people usually die from other infections /complications (aids) than hiv. Those cd4 t cells are essential to help all the other immune cells fights invading pathogens.

Sorry typing on my phone so I missed some detail.
