My father gave me and.my siblings all African sounding names, nothing crazy he just felt that it was important that we have a sense of heritage and it started with is having pride in our names and the meanings.

Never had a problem with it unless I was around cacs, for some reason most Cacs seem to think its cool to pronounce "Jabari" as "Jafar" "Jacari" "Jabiar" or the like:mindblown:

Me and my wife have had this argument as I've told her I REFUSE to give any future children of mine CAC names. She likes names like James, Michael, Jeffrey, etc. Just vanilla white CAC names, it ain't going down with me. Her argument is that "black" sounding names would give them a disadvantage when trying to get jobs and interviews:childplease: my counter is that I've been steadily employed since the age of 18 and have NEVER had an issue getting an interview or job. If a company is racist against hiring blacks it matters not whether their name is Keisha or Karen, if they don't want to hire a black person they won't PERIOD.

my first son's name will be Zaire:salute:
