aid is generally based on need outside of pell grants. they should have given you an estimate of how much you are eligible for. you can always borrow less, of course.

It depends on how much you can contribute. I got around $36,000, including grants and stafford whatevers. I still think I should've gotten more but no amount of talking with the school changed that. Also I just got a check in the mail for like 50 bucks so there's my financial aid refund lol.

I'll post all my fun numbers - you can only get so much with public institutions or through grants/loans.

And - a dude at my CC, was the GOAT - pocketed over $47K through Dean's List type scholarships - in one year. He told me proudly, not bragging, but more like "get like me"
