How much does mastering affect an album?

If every album was mastered/engineered/mixed like Prophet Posse Body Parts, Tear Da Club Up Thugs & That DJ Paul album he dropped a couple years ago..."person of interest"...

Dem shyt'z sound so crisp wangin out da 12's when i'm ridin down the block.

i'd say it bumps the overall quality of the music of whatever u listening too up a notch or a notch and a half.

Affects that album a lot, e.g Blu's album 'Jesus' potentially sounds great but the album seems like it's been mastered at a carnival & makes the album unlistenable completely.
