29K here is living in a one bedroom driving a 15 year old bucket and eating hot pockets every night. That 29K is probably like 25-26K after taxes and you can deduct even more than that after retirement benefits and insurance you probably looking more at 20-23K. Do the math and that’s like $1,900 a month that’s not no money especially considering you going to need a place to live and the bills associated with that and a vehicle to drive and fuel costs and maintenance.

You can forget about taking trips, going out to a nice steakhouse, or doing anything else of the like. That’s some check to check type living and you better not have kids you have to provide for.

I’m saying all that and Louisiana is relatively a cheap place to live but if you making under 35K before taxes that shyt is going to be a grind if you want anything more than the bare necessities.

Wait excuse me, so it rains worse than Seattle :dead::dead::dead:

Do y'all realize this list says TO MAKE ENDS MEET?
Y'all are thinking these numbers are saying that is upper middle class.

This makes sense. The average salary in the US is $31K

But the list is dumb because there are very few places in Cali that you are going to be able to live by yourself making 40k.

to add to what i said earlier, i did a study about cost of living out in CT about 7 years ago and a single person needed to be making about $17/hour to get by and have a little savings... not much either. That was seven years ago. Now you probably need to make $20+

of course a lot depends on what your actual expenses are but man politicians are all clueless or pretend to be. They act like those stim checks were doing something for people. Maybe they were nice for the super low income but they were nothing to middle class people.

Do you know how big California is? California is not just Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and Calabasas. There are a lot of places in California where $40K will get you by.

What realities do y'all live in? :heh:

Of course I have lived in Cali my whole life. Like I said there are only a few places that you will get by with 40K. I don't live in either of those places and 40K would barely cover rent. Sounds to me like you're the obe who doesn't live in reality:yeshrug:

Then why is the median per cap. income for California $39K+?

US Census
https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/CA/INC110219

So is the data/census incorrect? Or are majority of Californians homeless? According to you.
Like I asked. What realities do y'all live in?

Eastside of that Motor
Half of these states are in the $20k range :dwillhuh:

Im assuming you live in the worst hood in the state, eat a ramen noodle diet, ride the bus, no student loans, and have no hoes cause you can’t afford a date :hubie:

Rent/gas/car insurance alone is already pushing those numbers

Once again what I said is that there are very few places you can live by yourself making 40k in Cali. If you're only making that much, you are either living with family or roommates.
