How much of a lack of professionalism do you tolerate for shopping at Black businesses?

Long story short. I decided to go to a Black Eyewear place to get some glasses. And the place was not what I expected. It smelled, the walls were not painted, the receptionist was "stern". The eye exam was not modern at all. Like old school eyeglasses chart.

Got the glasses and instantly I knew something wrong. My eyes were heavy and I knew it was the wrong prescription. The doctor said "Try it for a couple days and if its a problem, call back up here." Well, nothing changed.

Talked to the receptionist and she's saying it's my diabetes. Mind you, I never experienced any symptoms for my diabetes and my blood sugar is normal. Not insulin just metaforin. I explained that I never had any problems before these but she kept insisting it was my diabetes. But finally I got an appointment.

So my question is, what is your limit when it comes to Black businesses and professionalism? If you dont care about "shopping Black" then ignore this thread. Like I can ignore some stuff to support Black. But I have limits.

if you noticed all of these "red flags" from the jump, why didn't you just leave and go somewhere else?

I've never seen one that wasn't willing to listen particularly since they obviously need your feedback to get the right prescription lol. I also had no idea anyone was still using a physical eye chart and not a TV or that microscope type device. Whatever that is called.

I usually just give them the money to leave me alone and go buy what I want from somewhere reputable, I just consider it charity or a tax, I expect nothing of quality regardless so I can’t be disappointed.

Yeah the one I normally go to has the screen. I had no idea that was still used either.
