I mean we are not talking about an ITunes agreement

This is the biggest financial transaction you will make in your life... its one thing if your documents get forged or faked without your knowledge; that definitely happened.... but if you sit down with a broker and say 'hey we make 50k' and he says 'ok we are going to put 150k down on your application'.... you voluntarily lied to buy a house you really couldn't afford

Me n wifey are saving up to buy a house now.... basic shyt... we wont buy until we have 30% cash on hand.... looking into different mortgages, mortgage insurance, etc. U have to arm (:lolbron:) yourself with knowledge and know what the hell you're getting into

Most people aren't as smart as you and your wife.

I think we have to really consider that. People have different levels of common-sense and logical thinking. I don't think people should be punished because they are stupid.

You don't have to be "smart" or "intelligent" to be well informed. Buying a house is not that complicated.

I don't think you realize how many people in the world are below your feet in terms of intelligence and common-sense. Pity them and sympathize with them, but don't blame them for their own stupidity. They don't have any control over that.

Nobody is born knowing everything. I didn't know about real estate when I was born. And I didn't learn it from my parents either. If anything I learned from them what not to do. They are headed into retirement age, professionals, and their house is in foreclosure. People have to be held responsible for their choices and actions.

you literally ignored the premise of my post and told me something that everyone knows and the spirit of the circumvented laws knew and understood way before the housing crisis or itunes existed:snoop:

we've always known that the public has a proclivity to behave this way, that's why we have these rules and shocker ALL (meaning anyone who was not eligible for a bailout aka the majority of us) of society benefit by avoiding suffering that these rules ultimately prevented, ie the financial crises (see Canada)

to know in hindsight, that rich people circumvented these rules in order to have poor people falter without said rules, (which we knew would happen, hence why the rules exist); and then saying "well look at how those poor people behave, they certainly are to blame too for behaving that way" is anti-intellectual masturbation without any hope of a happy ending.

The public should resist such proclivities. Everyone involved shares the blame... when you try to shift blame from one party to another you do nothing but expose your biases.

Banks pushed and profited on these junk loans but ultimately folks signed the dotted line under their own free will. Painting poor people to be hapless idiots doesn't change the fact that they are adults responsible for the actions and choices they make.

oh shyt problem solved:zfg:
hey dead7 come get your boy:mjlol:
Never said that. But if they hadn't agreed to wacky loans and forged paperwork :sas2:

No different than if the banks hadnt pushed that garbage onto them :sas2:

Everyone involved had to be complicit for the shyt to go down the way it did :yeshrug:

Making "your side" out to be the hapless victim won't change that

Napoleon in 1988 : How much responsibility do overzealous drug users bear in the crack epidemic?
We really should turn this into a spinoff thread :russ:

Napoleon in 1962: Really, HOW MUCH did the peasants have to do with the death tolls during the Great Leap Forward?
