$400 at the most. Learn to do it yourself and say money or find a friend who can do it cheaper.

I sitting in front of precision tune right now, I went in for oil change and brakes because I have been hearing squealing for about 3 weeks. Turns out I needed to have rear brakes and rotors replaces, differential serviced, and brake fluid flushed. Add that with the oil change, coolant flush, tire rotation, I'm about to go swipe for 787.

if you dont maintain the brakes
and have to do calipers, rotors, pads etc... your shyt could be incredibly hard to get off at that point
where you may have to go some other place regardless if you arent ready for all that

How many miles your whip got?
few things:
- Have them check the rotors while they are at. nothing worse than not fixing everything at once and having to do it again..
- find you a local mechanic that doesnt charge arm/leg on labor
- Like everyone else said, learn how to do them yourself for when times are hard
You know how many times they would’ve saved me from correcting someone and saying “it’s break not brake. Brakes are for cars”

I think nikkas in here confused, most shops don’t replace only brake pads they replace the pads and the rotor.
I agree with the bulk of the comments in here - it can be a fairly simple job as long as you can follow instructions and have the right tools available - you should be able to get everything you need from your local AutoZone, there are some great Youtube videos to show you how to do it.
I feel like they still got you, but at least your unlikely to get complete shoddy work at that price.
$550 was straight up scamming,
