How much time do you think we got left doing remote work?

I just want to break the time down I've saved and no longer have to put up with over the last 4 years.

30-45 minutes each morning to get ready
2 hours of commute - 1 hour each way (LA traffic to go 10 miles smh)
30 minutes to wind down when I get back home.
1 hr. because people want to socialize for longer lunches
1-3 hours of more social bullshyt at work (meetings that really weren't about anything)

Means:
5-7 hours per day on shyt that DOES NOT PROGRESS me at all, simply time WASTED.
25-35 total hours each week
52 weeks

1300 hours of POINTLESS TIME WASTED EVERY YEAR

After 4 years of remote...........................

5200 hours, 216 days

Not a single one of those hours goes into progressing my career - all because you want me to be in an office?!

If I round that up to let's say 7 hours over four years: 7280 hours -> 303 days.

That's 1/5 of my time I'd have wasted from just going to the office these last 4 years.

What'd it look like for the next 20 years? Sorry, but no way. Never going back to an office.

I'm guessing for many people it's no different.

So now I got all that time back.

I've actually used many of those hours on bettering myself, learning more about my field. I actually went back to finish school a couple years ago and now I'm working on a 2nd degree because I have a ton more time and money to spend on my education as I'm not blowing that on commutes, pointless socialization, etc. That gas money saved alone (especially in Cali) lets me pay for my school out of pocket.

I actually have become exponentially better at my job because of remote work. There's no point for people to be in an office if they can do their job remote. I still put in my time as well to get my work done, but I avoid the extra 2-3 hours of BS socialization games/distractions at the office each day and the 3 hours of commute issues.

I got almost all the 10,000 hours to get better at what I do because of remote work.

My company is never going back.

Pre Covid we had offices in LA, Atl, a small Buffalo outpost and about 200 fully remote folks.

Now, La is closed, Atl is closed, Buffalo still trucking with 6 people who just demo stuff for clients, and all the execs commute to San Fran.

Everybody else is at the house and I don’t see it changing unless they want to pay us all San Fran salaries.

This is an answer that varies, its up to the type of job or service one provides obviously a bricklayer or eletrician is hands on in comparison to say an it or cyber technician or operator

I can’t go back. No way. Maybe, maybe hybrid but absolutely not going back to office full time. I would quit before that happened.

Company took a survey and basically 80-85% said they would quit if they had to go back and about 60% said they would quit if had to go hybrid. So my company ain’t even brought it up since. :mjlol:
