When this happened nikkas still ran hip hop so nikkas didn't care. Also Will wasn't popular with hip hop fans in the 90's.
How is having a better catalog a technicality?
Will's been rapping since '86, nobody expected him to battle Eminem on some 8 Mile shyt. He never backed down either though. Will didn't start shyt, he had an opinion and Em proceeded to blast him on songs and in videos. Saying "you're either the biggest thing ever or the biggest flop" isn't a diss imo, Eminem says that shyt himself.
And Em's records didn't hurt Will's legacy at all, and he didn't seem too bothered by it - he was never going to have the Fresh Prince/Jiggy level of success with the way the game was going - Eminem certainly didn't affect Will's career.
NOBODY will look back at their careers or the history of HipHop and go "remember when Eminem dissed Will?

Will had some choice words about Em's take on "Just the two of us". He also threw 'shade' and an entire genre of rap on stage on MTV. That's where the 'beef' started, not the comment about him either being a flop or a success.

Exactly....those lines ain't put a dent in Will's success or legacy...so why are we having a pitty party for him?
These nikkas claim to hate Eminem yet they fish for reasons to talk about him, including recreating this thread every other month and condemning all of Hip Hop for not coming to his defense from such an onslaught of lyrical miracles.

This is true. HipHop never unites for anything, let alone the Fresh Prince.
Nelly was going at KRS ONE around the same time and only Nas spoke on it.
HipHops about standing up for yourself and being your own man. Em did that, Will did that.
