I did the whole catholic thing: Baptism, first communion, confirmation... My mom used to drag us to Church (even my dad who used to fall asleep during services)
But she was like "do your thing" when I turned 13-14

He sleeps in church but gets angry when I use my phone during service
probably around 15-16 , around the time when my grandma who is the most religious person i ever knew had bad mental breakdown and has never been the same since
i didnt go full no believer just like 75 % of the way, but recently go back into church a bit the last two years

it was a very personal experience so it is hard for me to put it in a way you would understand. if I said "I spoke to god" or that "God spoke to me"... it wouldn't really register with someone who is a non believer. I was an atheist for more than 10 years, I know the mentality. when I was an atheist nothing mattered to me except the cold hard facts and any notion of something existing beyond the physical seemed silly to me.
I actually used to pride myself on being a free thinker and a free spirit but in retrospect I cannot believe how small and closed minded I really was. Once you allow for the possibility that not everything is as it appears to be, that there is actually more happening beneath the surface...there really is no limit on what you can accomplish.
God, the force, mother nature... whatever you wanna call it... I felt the presence of a greater power and since that day I have improved in just about every facet of life. So much positive energy now. So much to look forward to.

My mom always presented Christianity as the religion used to enslave my ancestors
In terms of a generic God, never understood why I should put someone else before me
At that point I could put everyone else before me. And saw how tough doing that made my moms life
