headsets are were it's at breh. Even console gamers love that shyt too. My shyt can do 7.1. It's optical, dolby digital live, and I have a dedicated sound card. The bass and surround sound is :ohlawd:

Plus, without a headset, how are you gonna talk to people while multi-player gaming?

I have to say that I agree with people on the headphones part. They are so much better to focus and also eliminate all the ambient noise as well :ahh:

It's a Bose surround sound system just the speakers cost a stack(5 speakers and a sub). What kind of headphones do you have? :sas1: If it's over a 1K you know you over paid ?:mjlol:

Not really MP gaming on the computer but the surface book does have a built in MIC :takedat:

I've never tried gaming with a headphone set up and I've never tried a surround sound set of cans. But even then it would have to be blue tooth or something because no optical out on the surface book and if it did I probably wouldn't even have the issue.

not to mention you don't piss off your wife/neighbors wearing a headset

I'm fortunate to own(well chase own's it currently) a detached home and my wife is pretty cool about it. So much so that in fact my cousin asked how do my TV speakers sound and I couldn't tell him because we are always using the sound system for sound :yeshrug:

I'm all about good headphones (you get so much more for half the price). I got Astro A50s for gaming and Parrot Ziks for Music. :ohlawd:

I've seriously considered spending 1K on headphones for music and buying a headphone amp. If you're into music like I am, you know you can get so much more for your money with a good pair of cans. $1K headphones are comparable to $10k speakers.

does the Surface Pro have an nvidia gpu?

I'm not really sure what even handles the sound via HDMI. one of the reasons I bought a soundcard was because my mobo didn't have an optical port

yea it's a GeForce gpu...when I connect the surface book to my receiver my receiver is shown as an option in playback devices menu making it the sound card...configure speaker to 5.1...movies sound amazing as they would if it were the blu ray but games just go right to stereo...I'll play with the settings on the receiver because sometimes it'll reset itself but no dice...I'm almost tempted to buy a 50' HDMI cord to connect my desktop, I'd imagine it should work I can't be the only person on the planet that has tried to connect via hdmi to game on the PC

You can output 7.1 with the right sound card and most games give you this option to enable it.

the problem is probably a lack of support for multi-channel PCM. I'm not sure if that's the tablet or the receiver though. movies use Dolby Digital (or DTS), but PC games use PCM. look through the properties of your audio device to see what formats it supports
