Being friends, even close friends, with minorities doesn't mean someone isn't a racist. In general, most racists that aren't out wearing hoods and burning crosses are racist against a group, but individuals they have actual personal contact with are open to "one of the good ones" spot. The majority of racists aren't violent racists going out killing minorities, they just think less of people that aren't in their group. That doesn't mean they're walking around at work dropping n-bombs.

Taker wearing SS shirts, and being close friends with neo-nazis The Harris Brothers (who wore SS shirts on TV and also both has SS tattoos they eventually got poorly covered) can't be negated by being friends with a Samoan and black guy.
