I hope it becomes a reality or that him and Kawhi are on the same team next year. I’ve visited San Antonio once and it’s a beautiful city. I think his family wouldn’t mind being there neither.

No one wants to live in San Antonio it is garbage. You can visit all of its attractions in 24 hours. He would have to drive to Houston every weekend to do anything fun.

The more I think about it, philly is really the only realistic option if he wants the max.

The lakers are option 2 but they would have to gut their roster significantly

The financial path to Lebron is actually not that hard and can be done 2 ways....

1. Renounce everybody who contract is up so you have no cap holds for them to get the maximum money you can...so that would be parker, anderson, bertans, and brandon paul if need be...get joff, rudy, and danny to opt out so they have no cap hold...not hard if you tell them if they don't opt out and they opt in you just trading them to trash teams for nothing to make space for lebron...then you have to trade pau...easier than you think since his deal next year is only guaranteed for 6 mil...so it is pretty much an expiring...you are going to have to give away the 18th pick or derrick white or maybe both to get rid of pau...but if you are trying to get lebron this is a no brainer...so this would get the spurs around 33 million to offer and lebron max starts at 35 million due to his time in the league...and i think the spurs could convince lebron to take 2 million less and just structure the contract like a max...and if lebron says no i want the extra two million then you trade patty to the 76ers which won't be that hard with brent brown their...they can go over the cap to sign danny so they can bring him back if they want...and i think once they send pau off he just ask for a buyout becomes a free agent and ends up right back in san antonio for the minimum...also 5 star lock tony and manu coming back since those dudes are playing for titles...so now you got dejounte / manu / parker / kawhi / lamarcus / and then 2 of either green / gay / mills / bertans / anderson...bring over multinov and you got 8 players...you can fill the rest of the roster out with cheap guys and nobody gets more out of cheap fringe nba players than the spurs...

2. Do a sign and trade...which would be hilarious...remember lebron has a no trade clause AND he has a player option...so he could flat out tell Cleveland "either work out something with san antonio to trade me their or i am going to just decline my option and go their and you get nothing"...and maybe cleveland would be find with that...but at that point the spurs are probably going to throw pau, patty, white, the 18th pick and a future first in there. They might need to throw in a another player...lebron makes 35 mil if he picks up his option and those 3 players get the spurs at a little over 30...so just add blossomgame and / or brandon paul and the money works

Funny thing is no matter what they do with Kawhi it has no financial effect this year on them since even if he signs the supermax it doesn't kick in until next season...so that is already one huge hurdle that won't ever have to jump over...

While it does make some sense, there are some factors working against it:

Kawhi is unpredictable.
The Spurs are old in general.
The West is stacked.

Especially that third point - not going to be fun potentially playing the Rockets in a 7 game series then facing a well-rested Warriors team the next round. shyt, then facing the Celtics, but with Kyrie and Hayward.

Not to mention playing Western Conference teams x4 per season instead of x2 at this stage in his career.

Rockets have salary issues. They may have to get rid of some players, meaning they won't be the same Rockets team he joins. CP3 wants the max and they need to re-sign Capella.

Remember, Klay took a paycut and Durant is willing to as well. That's why the Warriors are able to stay intact and this also affects chemistry formed because of it but also builds from it.

Continuing, there are downsides to any team he chooses tbh.

Although the east is easier, the two teams there are not quite built to accommodate Lebron.
Philly:
Ben Simmons and Lebron are almost the same player.

Celtics:
Celtics already have young wing players.

I think an interesting choice would be Toronto.

Lebron really ran into the perfect storm that formed the GSW dynasty tbh.

:jbhmm:

So this is possible.. not probable..

my theory includes keeping Kawhi and allowing Pop to coach him & Lebron together

Cleveland ain't gonna take that. They gonna want good assets. LA got a lot of young 1st round pick players. Spurs dont really have much young talent that ain't already expiring. I dont see it. Philly, New Orleans, LAL, or Toronto if we are talking trades.

Can't trade Gay or Green right now. Cleveland ain't doing that. They gonna want a lot for Bron and convince you they not paying the LT for them and they wanna built try to win with young assets. Man, there gameplan, try to rape Philly, LAL or Boston to trade Bron to. Or tell Bron he can walk and go there without them which would limit him to just Philly as a viable option. Cleveland actually holds the cards right now.

For a trade, it's going to take a lot.

Lakers can sign 2 max players by renouncing all their cap holds and stretching deng. The trade for Clarkson and nance allowed this happen. They could potentially have James, George with ball, Ingram, Kuzma, and Hart. Their bigs would be terrible tho. There would be no reason to trade for Lebron for the Lakers.

The only team I see that could actually trade for Lebron would be the Celtics and they could give Hayward and quite a few 1st round picks. They would be an immediate playoff team while building for the future.

He played in Miami and Cleveland. They aren't big markets.
They’re from Cleveland. Miami and SA don’t compare. The lifestyle for the rich in Miami is 10x better in Miami. SA is pretty nice but I doubt they (as in the fam) would want to live their by choice.
