Mario World has better controls (mario 3 feels like he's on ice all game), much longer stages, better graphics, better puzzles, a more fledged out world to traverse, better graphics, and more secrets than 3.It also had yoshi.

I want to put Fallout 1 (and the original WASTELAND, which heavily influenced New Vegas) over New Vegas because of nostalgia purposes. But if you cut nostalgia/influence out of it then NV probably is the best. When I went to Las Vegas in real life last year, I kept looking over my shoulder for those Cazador wasps.
