You haven't played 5 yet and you admitted you didn't really get into 4.The final fantasy series is better than the persona dungeon crawler high school dating sim series and it isn't even close IMO.
Persona 4 and especially 5 is better than XIII ~XIII-3 and XV by most accounts.
Series wise it's not really a comparison as there's way more FF games so this comparison might be better suited between the last few games.
It being a "high school dating sim dungeon crawler" is just one of it's strong points so you saying it like it's supposed to be bad but hey idk

A lot of that has to do with there being only 5 Persona games and 15 Final Fantasy games (we're talking mainline only, yes?). Maintaining quality over 15 entries is extremely hard. Remember that most people feel FF peaked later than the fifth entry. If you were to poll and ask what the best FF is, it's almost a guarantee that VI, VII & IX would be the top 3. Let's wait for Persona to get 9 games into the franchise while maintaining the same level of quality before we crown it

this is such a hot take thread GTFO. FF has been around for close to 30 years now with a bunch of spin-offs so of course the staff will bring in new faces and ideas. the OGs were extremely talented and have this thing called ambition to pursue other ventures like their own video game or media company so you're not gonna keep top notch talent like that for long. plus if they kept the same model the game will go stale.
the persona series has sold something like 8 million copies WW so they don't have the pressure of hitting numbers, yet. i don't think they were putting out critically acclaim games until persona 3 if i remember correctly plus they take like 8 years or some shyt like that to put out a game while we get a FF game every year or two.

You know whats not fair about your critique? Final Fantasy is over 20 games deep. It couldn't do the same shyt for this long.
The OG FF games I loved the most.. the creator moved on to form Mist Waker and so far they just made a few Xbox classics (Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon) then they switched it up and FF7 is what ppl call the pinnacle of the series. Well sir, they made probably 30more Final Fantasies since then. By this point, there should be a FF fighter and FPS
so underappreciated and one of the best games for the 360 imo.

Better off they do that with a side game and see how the reception is than to try it on a mainline game and flop.

Project re fantasy is a brand new IP breh. I think they are going all in making a new fantasy JRPG. I don't know if you want but I can link you any interview of the Director of P5 talking about P5 and his new project... I hope you know a lot of ppl that normally work on persona moved to that studio.
Yeah I heard about that. I'd hope they can maintain the quality and bring that high quality JRPG goodness into other settings/themes.

Final Fantasy has been a failure since the OG creator left. Thats the real problem. They lack direction.
The guys who worked on Persona are working on a new RPG in a fantasy setting by the way. And lets be real....we already know it will be better than final fantasy.

Have not played persona 5, but from what I've played of previous games in the series, no way it's beating FF15

FFXV is straight ass, P5 is the best reviewed JRPG of this generation. fukk out of here.
i mean not really because they recreated that same magic with FFIX and FFX and to a lesser extent, VIII as well. After FFX it's been straight garbage.
