Jay's goes was to influence better pay for artists.. and eventually getting swallowed up(paid) by the bigger dudes... they didn't bite.. now we're here

That was his marketing scheme to the public.

His goal was to make a fortune from streaming

Spotify has over 70 million paying subscribers and haven't turned a profit
Jay better sale that bytch if he can get any takers. Streaming seems to be bad business and the big wigs know it. Who pitched this shyt to Jay?

I'm not hear to defend Jay...I think he's overrated as a business man. But, anytime he does anything it's always a hit piece on Tidal.

I think streaming is pretty exploitative. But, I'm tired of Tidal being targeted and singled out.
How is streaming exploitative when the alternate was artists earning nothing....you know, that whole era when pretty much half of listeners bootlegged shyt? At least some sort of income is coming in for artists...

And streaming is so low margin, the companies aren’t profitable, well the streaming side as apple and google clearly have billions on other sides of the business. I don’t know why people expect bigger payouts when the streaming services themselves don’t turn a profit and what they do pay, labels, publishers, etc are taking their cut from first.

I've never seen a single hit piece on any other streaming platform

Spotify never made a dime and has a HQ with a 700 million rent bill or some shyt, but somehow its all good :dead::russ::mjlol:

Apple Music probably A-ok bc they can throw the bag at whoever artist and people are tied in to their ecosystems with phones and computers. Just another way to get people interested in their products

Google Play Music is another b*stard stepchild app that got left behind by Google :mjcry:. They just want the data nothing else

Again, that's not bad "math"

You have to pay attention to the little cheap shots these fukkhead journalists love to take with the intention of finding the subtlest ways to call a black person stupid. Back to my point. if Jay is an investor/owner and he tweeted that Tidal had a million users and did so for promotional purposes, that's not bad math. That's promotion. Twitter is a promotional platform, not an earnings report. If he flexed a little on Twitter to create the perception of success who gives a fukk. He's a Hustler so at the end of the day he's gonna use his resources to get shyt popping.

The person who wrote this intentionally used the term Jay-Z's bad math as a subtle shot at his character and Intelligence. There wasn't even an equation so they could've easily said "bad numbers" but the association with a grown rich black man doing bad math is 1000% a slight. These cacs ain't slick.

That's cause they are mad Jay Z, a black man, owns it. That's all its ever been about. They hate seeing a black man in control running things. Jay is the most powerful black person in the music industry. He controls a distribution service with millions of users and is using it to promote whatever he wants. Like Jay said on the new album they gonna really hate him even more since his trayvon martin documentary on the way.

Been over 3 years now and hit piece articles been saying tidal was going out of business every month it seems since it started. Tidal is here to stay and they cant stand it.

Big facts, that’s why anytime I see someone hating on Jay Z business ventures. I assume it’s some white boy that can’t relate to the plight of a black business owner.

They are doing anything they can to keep us down. They don’t want rich black folks tell kids they can do it too. “Own your own shyt” “stop spending your money on silly shyt” “Boss up”

They’ll do anything to discredit a successful black man, because life on the plantation is good enough

Promotional purposes? You know Elizabeth Holmes is about to go to jail for a long time for lying to shareholders and potential investors about her company's alleged success, among other things (like, fraud) lol. That's a slippery slope. I understand "rounding up" to make your company look better, but doubling your subscription base projections? Nah.

I agree that Jay faces unfair criticism based on being a black man doing things he's not supposed to be doing. And I think competitors and potential buyers inflate Tidal's problems in order to hurt the company. But first off, Jay doesn't own Tidal. Second off while all the streaming sites have fukkery going on, why does Tidal's fukkery only seem to benefit Hov, his wife, and (previously) Kanye? That's not good business, it's a scam.
