So I get out of the military in 2 weeks and will start college in a few months. I plan on majoring in software engineering and already have sme knowledge in C++ and Objective C. One thing that I have noticed is that almost everyone is learning how to code nowadays. How can I prepare for the future in this aspect if this market becomes saturated with coders?

Be elite. Have cloud certs, a blog or YT channel, contribute to open-source projects
What techs are the future for developers? I was thinking Artificial intelligence and the internet of things :jbhmm:. All help would be appreciated.

The technology is dependent on what you want to do. Do you want to be a web developer? Quantum computing developer? AI, Data Science, or ML developer? Graphics engine developer? Compiler or language developer?

What you should have a mastery of are: data structures, algorithms, and some real world projects. For the latter, you can go to sites like Topcoder and work on what they have there.

In short, you're ability to code, be famiilar with real-world issues, and communicate will be the most important thing going into an interview, no matter how saturated the market is.

Focus on what you want to develop and what the required languages are. With C you are solid. Was it not possible to learn coding skills in the military?
