This may sound gross, but I try to buy meat that's a day away from being thrown away, they usually mark it down 50-60% and I either eat it right away to freeze it. Also if you have the room in your fridge/freezer, buy your meat in bulk from a local packer/butcher. You'll save a lot in the long term especially if it's beef.

Get you some chicken, rice, beans, cilantro onion, avocado , corn tortillas and you good. That's damn near all I eat when I budget. Buy some pb&j and almonds too to hold you throughout the day.

Fast food is cheap but I try to stay away from that junk and it don't get me full anyways.
