How useless is a liberal arts degree?

Someone has to have the technical skill to automate things


People who have a degree that can be learned with a library card and free time won't be the ones to do it

Both of you seem to be defining liberal arts in a way that excludes math and science, but most liberal arts degrees include both, and there are B.S. degrees in the liberal arts along with B.A.s. The purpose of liberal arts is to improve your intellectual faculties and knowledge-base in an all around way, and then specialize after, as opposed to technical degrees that are parochial from the get-go. Liberal arts isn't a synonym for the humanities.

BA AND BS are massively different at most institutions. In a lot of degrees liberal arts is exactly synonymous with humanities.

A BA in liberal arts field with some experience will keep you employed in some realm of human services. You can even get some supervisor roles if your timing is right. A masters degree is what you will need in a liberal arts type degree if you ever want to become a program director or manager. Teaching is another good option.

Cost matters more than concentration. You go to university to become a functional adult first and foremost, not to pursue the most lucrative path.

The most lucrative path always switches up in a heartbeat, too. In this day and age, nothing is long term $$$ that can build generational wealth.

most use the term liberal arts for everything humanities related such as philosophy , sociology. Psychology etc etc

A lot of people in Stem Degrees go to professional help because the extreme amount of stress damn near kills them.

Liberal arts degrees def have value, but to say folks who literally solve problems for a living don't understand the world as we know it is kind of silly. Especially considering that for all your "understanding" you aren't able to compete career-wise with "technical drones"

We need people to major in both. Techs keep our systems/infrastructure running, and liberal arts majors deal with the youth, elderly, disabled, mentally ill, addicts, criminals etc.

The issue is that no statistics for 'mid career' take the current job crisis into account. It is tough as shyt to get a foot in the door with a non stem degree these days.

And back to the top 5 law vs any law school, its not prestige that matters, its the networking opportunity.
