NAS, was able to come back.
as, jay is a bytchmade sublim diss guy.
whereas at that time,...
nas/p/fatjoe were on mixtapes heavy dissing jay.
so, no one knew when the bootleg dropped if this record was a diss.
it is more jay revision of what happened.

orginally, this record was like the big budget next record in the series of records like who you wit.
NOBODY, knew it was a diss at the time.
even, reggae artist fighting over females were more incendiary at the time than jay bytchmade stalker ass.

Actually Art us Diehard NaS fans speculated it on the NaS forums. I remember as soon as I heard the hook, I thought of this NaS lyrics from his AZ callabo:

"Excuse me is that your b!tch in my 6, turning up the volume when she hear my hits" - NaS (How Ya Livin' AZ featuring NaS)

Again NaS and Jay were hitting each other back and forth for years before the bleek ish popped off really. Even on "What you think of that" which is clearly a NaS subliminal. So when Missy said:

"Is that your chick, why she all in my 6"

I connected it to the NaS song. Maybe Missy didn't know but Jay knew what he was doing. As for the song, it was fire but I heard the international release cause I was traveling overseas at the time and copped it. The version I had is the version that got Un stabbed cause he got his international and bootlegged it 2 weeks before it came out when Jay had to hurry and change the songs. The Bleek version wasn't terrible but it was clear Jay threw Bleek that bone to give him a hit. The 3 verse Jay version and Twista Missy feature is the best. I think Jay and Timbaland's union on "Vol 3" is criminally slept on. I think Timbo gave Jay a lot of fire on that album and it's like a prelude to "Magna Carta" Jay and Timbo doing basically a whole album together. But Yeah This song did what "Supa Ugly" couldn't. It really got at NaS's babymoms and the whole situation. Jay's flow on this is GODLY.

MAN I WAS IN LIKE THE SIXTH GRADE WHEN THIS DROPPED...SHVT WAS CRAZY WHEN IT DROPPED....I WENT TO SAMGOODY AND SPENT THE DUB ON THAT JOINT WHEN THE ALBUM CAME OUT...THE UNDERSTANDING...THAT JOINT IS A CLASSIC AND A TOP 10 ROC-a-FELLA RELEASE...SAME YEAR THE DYNASTY DROPPED TOO...RAP MUSIC WAS SUCH A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE BACK THEN....THERE WAS A MYSTERY TO THE RAP GAME THAT MADE IT SO ALLURING....ALBUMS WERE EXPENSIVE BUT THE ARTISTS WERE PUTTING MORE WORK IN & GOING TO THE STORE TO BUY AN ALBUM WAS LIKE BUYING A PAIR OF NEW SHOES...THE ALBUM BOOKLETS WERE USUALLY CREATIVE AND WELL THOUGHT OUT....SONGS HELD MORE VALUE BACK THEN TOO BECAUSE MUSIC WASNT AS EASILY ACCESSIBLE AS IT IS TODAY. PEOPLE SWEEP BLEEK UNDER THE RUG BUT HE STAYED RELEVANT DURING THE PLATINUM ERA OF HIP HOP & THE UNDERSTANDING IS A CLASSIC....IF YOU HAVENT HEARD IT YOU NEED TO CHECK IT OUT...THE ALBUM. ALWAYS REMINDED ME OF ONLY BUILT FOR CUBAN LINX

Did this nikka not figure out that it was Carmen who gave him the house # and the okay to call when naS was home? Then the fact that she was sweatin Twista till no fluid was left, smashed Iverson and Killa Cam and a bunch of other nikkaz while she was with naS... goddamn, is this nikka Mr Magoo?

then naS hears this track then promptly hops on a Missy track after she just shyt on him, rubbin it in that Carmen was fukkin with Jay and Twist

I liked Bleek on this.:ehh:

Lets be real this nikka Jigga is such a stan he probably was thinking about Nas the whole time he was sleeping with Carmen. :scusthov: The level of fanaticism displayed by Jigga was deeply troubling, and I'm glad Nas eventually addressed it.

I remember having Vol. 3 on Bootleg:ahh: ...the Version on that CD was the Best with Hov just Killing it but then Bleek came along and made it his Single and then there was a Video... after that I didn't really care for it all that much. It also seemed like the Drums were switched up a bit but maybe that's just me.:yeshrug:

Got no problem with Bleek, I just think the Song had more Strength by itself with Hov & Missy's 1st Version. shyt got Played Out faster than Big Pimpin'.

see the problem was adding bleek to the song. it was already piff. but when they made the bleek version, they fukked up the recording cuz part of the way thru the song, the beat and the lyrics get waaaayyyy offbeat. which is why I will ONLY listen to the original joint.

this, come & get me & nikka what nikka who :wow: that late 90's timbo/jigga combination
Let's talk about how this is a lowkey Nas diss too :sas1:

I made it so, you could say Marcy and it was all good
I ain't crossover I brought the suburbs to the hood
Made em relate to your struggle, told em bout your hustle
Went on MTV with do-rags, I made them love you
You know normally them people wouldn't be fukkin witchu
Til I made em understand why you do what you do
I expected to hear, "Jay, if it wasn't for you.."
But instead, all I hear is buzzin in your crew
How y'all scheamin, tryin to get accustomed to my moves
So y'all could tape my mouth, stake out my house
But I got pride I'm a nikka first
I gotta cock back and pull the trigger first
That's how Jigga work
The funny thing; I represent y'all everytime I spit a verse
and that's the shyt that hurts
But hey, I got my mind right, got my nine right here
So when y'all feel that the time is right..

:sas2:

that first verse though

I remove your roof nikka let the sun shine in
Thirty-eight waist, enough to put one nine in
Really a thirty-six without the gun I'm thin
but when the gat is tucked, I'm fat as fukk :flabbynsick:
Ignorant b*stard, I'm takin it back to day one
No kids, but trust me I know how to raise a gun :whew:
For nikkaz that think I spend my days in the sun
well here's the shock of your life, the glock not the mic
Homey I'm not into hype; trust me, I'm still street
You still fukkin up then trust me I still creep
Yeah I know the platinum chain be lookin real sweet
but reach and I bury nikkaz sixty feet deep
S dot Carter turn rappers into martyrs
Seperate fathers from they daughters, why bother :wow:
I'm a crook like you, I took like you
I disobeyed the law threw out the book like you
How dare you look at Jigga like I'm shook like who
I keep the fifth with me nikka, come and get me..
