The prices will ultimately come down, as all tech generally does. Hell, the OG NES debuted at around $700. Now you can download it for free on your phone.
The prices are high because this is literally First Gen technology. Once they make the headsets wireless and the graphics higher fidelity it will be a wrap. I give it about 4-5 years before it become truly mainstream.
