What people don't mention enough is that between 89-95, the West Coast pretty much defined mainstream hip hop. NWA, Ice T, Hammer, Snoop and Dre, Boyz N The Hood, Menace, gangs, 40's, lowriders etc etc

So it looks like NY cats clowning the west, but they were really just clowning what mainstream hip hop was at the time....

basically this

basically this

You sure about that? Maybe 93 - 95.

But 89- 92 :what:

Yes I agree that the visual of the West Coast appearance was strong in the early 90's but so was Hoodies , Timbs and baggy clothes with name brands on them. Word to Tupac, Onyx, Naughty, Kriss Kross, TLC and Wu Tang.

Not true, when Pac started beefing with the east that friendship was over. The Wayans were all cool with Biggie especially Marlon. He even said some slick shyt about Pac not that long ago

"He wasn’t real gangster but he acted gangster. He was a method actor, so he went a little too far. He was like, ‘Oh, I’ll shoot you!’ Pow! He’d really shoot you. He’d overcommit. I could tell he wasn’t a gangster because he had the softest hands. No gangster has hands [like that], I call him a Palmolive thug. He’d be like, ‘Come here, you want some of this,’ and then he’d give you this gentle hand. It was soft. Then he had these long eyelashes looking like [Mr.] Snuffleupagus, just like, ‘You don’t want none of this. I’m thug!’"

So for some reason I found myself searching for the "Ice Froggy Frog" video today. Watching it made me think about how east coast cats was really shytting on the west coast via film. For Chris Rock to make CB4 when he's from NYC makes no sense to me. For The Wayans to make "Don't Be A Menace...." when they was from NYC also made no sense to me. I know Don't Be A Menace was just making fun of west coast movies but still. I don't know how they was able to get away with it while living in L.A. Nobody even tripped off of it and the west coast supported both films. Eazy-E and Ice-T even appeared in CB4.

Marlon was chillin with Pac a few minutes before he got shot:comeon:
