Its worse than that.

The "new cities" in china are pretty much a scam. They build big impressive looking buildings in the middle of nowhere and finesse overseas investors to buy into them, then use that money to make the next building. Its a gigantic ponzi scheme



those companies collapsed not too long ago due to this.

Im willing to learn more if you got links to drop for me :yeshrug: But what I'm saying is definitely true in the case of Evergrande and they are the 2nd largest real estate developer in China. They're defaulting from that same model and multiple other major chinese developers are following in their footsteps.

As for what I'm mistaken on, educate me

No doubt, almost every major Chinese real estate firm has defaulted. And if there was ever a notion of them being propped up, it's very obvious now. Every hedge fund in America is buying up them junk bonds pretending like its collateral prolonging the crash here.

When I moved to DC, that was the biggest bytch. COL was insane compared to 500 dollars a month in Gwinnett. The issue was, it was impossible to find a damn job in Atlanta at that time.
