In the 80s there were several musicians saying "Free Mandela" but the bad thing about hip hop is we have a culture where people are talking about "Free____insert random ignorant nikka in prison on bullshyt....I don't consider a member of Slaughterhouse saying "Feminine like George Zimmerman" and :wow: moment...

everyday the black community is weakened. in every way possible. it's been going on for so long that by the time we'll be discovered it'll be too late.

black love, unity, and music
Hip Hop is soft as baby shyt now. We can thank the gay Atlanta movement, the swag rappers in LA, as well as the dress wearing motherfukkers in NY for allowing this pussification to be so thorough.

Not so fast with the blaming the generation bs ... NWA were asked on arsenio about apartheid and they was like :manny: 'who cares'... this is a group old heads would have you believe were 'conscious'

nice try, lol...

You're trying to cherry pick the response from an individual, or group, and make that representative of the whole....Back in the day hip hop was VERY responsive to causes and issues of social and political relevancy in our communities.

Nobody is suggesting that EVERYONE in hip hop chime in on the GZ verdict, but to hear hip hop's mild-at-best reaction concerning a case so monumental to black america, is expected but disheartening nonetheless. Hip hop has become such a vapid, corporatized, pop world obsessed genre now, that allows for little room for meaningful discussions and topics. Rappers that are interested in social issues are shamed, and thats crazy to a lot of people

Ain't no political voice in hip hop.nikkas and hipster whites done stripped the edge out of hip hop.You think European Jay gonna spit some shyt?Nah he too busy rappin about Tom Ford suits and crystal eggs to give a fukk.Drake?Ross?Wayne? These are the nikkas that are in forefront of the game right now and they don't got the will or talent to pull some shyt off. There isn't a Cube or a Chuck D out here, nikkas ran those types out the game.
Killer Mike might drop a quick track but nobody will give a fukk about it besides him and his 3 twitter followers..and that's a damn shame.

c00ns that claim that they are from the streets rather rep black on black crime and materialism like a bytch before standing up and making black power music.
