As chair of the Senate Budget Committee, Sanders wields enormous influence over reconciliation since the panel helps set overall spending levels. Senate Democrats are weighing up to $6 trillion in spending aimed at overhauling the economy with new initiatives in childcare, higher education, monthly cash payments to families, and clean energy programs.

Manchin along with a few other Senate Democrats like Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia have already balked at supporting $6 trillion in spending, making cuts likely.

President Joe Biden has already struck a $1 trillion infrastructure agreement with a centrist group of lawmakers concentrated on roads, bridges, and highways. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has dug in on not passing the plan until the Senate also approves a separate reconciliation package containing measures unlikely to draw Republican support.

I agree. You can lower tax rates but make the effective rate they pay actually match what they should.

Even when it was 35% (the highest in the world!), corporations still paid an effective average percent of something like 15.

I mean we're all adults here...99% of these politicians got here by sucking off corporations. Including Biden.

The thing is they may have gotten the best training but they lack the heart to fight. Just a few weeks ago 1500 afghan soldiers fled to Tajikstan in the face of a Taliban offensive near the border with Iran. They just don't have the will to fight. Most these soldiers whole motivation to fight was money and drugs. I have spoken to vets who served in Afghanistan and trained the Afghan security forces. They always say they are garbage and unmotivated. Its like the war in Yemen. Saudi Arabia has more money, equipment and training and yet when their soldiers fight the Houthis they always cut and run.

They got training from MiTT teams and SF guys. They have entire SFABs dedicated to standing them up and getting them trained in COIN. Their training is better than what the average trainee entering the military gets in some instances. More intensive training time, access to better tech, actual OJT and not some simulation in a trailer, etc. Like dude mentioned, they don't have the heart to fight for their own country.
