Just to be completely objective, we spend what we spend to protect Europe (who is WEAK militarily) and ourselves from Russia and China. The second the US pulls back Russia will start entrenching themselves back in Europe and the Middle East, which is what they’ve been doing in Syria, Poland, Ukraine, Yemen, the Balkans and Saudi Arabia recently. Putin was also trying to rig elections in France, keep Germany and the rest of EE dependent on Russia oil lines, and has been trying to consolidate power back over the Central Asian countries that used to be in the USSR. China hasn’t been as aggressive but at best, they’re biding their time until they can challenge us. The US is the only check mark against China and Russia. We’ve been trying to get NATO countries to pay their share and stop relying on us as heavily but, theyre years away from having a military worth talking about. If the US didn’t exist Putin would be skullfukking everything west of India right now.
