It's the huge contrast from his debut that's killed him.
We know he can wrestle his ass off and he's dope on the mic but he's:
1. Beside Jericho who is having for me the run of his career at the mo with the slogans and the list
2. Unable to win clean thus negating the fact that this guy is actually a dope wrestler.
We get the heel/face dynamic; they are meant to be sneaky underhanded etc but why not have him cheat hit someone with the belt for example rather than have Y2J save him? The belt thing makes him look evil, having to be saved makes him look weak. 2 diff sides of the same coin.
Some people may think I'm taking 2+2 and coming up with 5 but his booking at the moment is linked with Reigns'. They don't want Reigns to look weak losing clean so they are terribly booking their actual champion which sounds insane when you say it out loud.
Rusev suffered from the same thing, a tough guy was made to look like an idiot because they wanted to make Roman look good.
I think that's what a lot of people's problem with Roman is, that others have to look bad in order for him to look good
