tha self titled album wuz his magnum opus

it didn't get as much credit as his later work from casual fans, because unlike Cube's early work, Spice hadn't established a buzz yet

but u can go back and listen to that first album even now and be like :ooh: thats how u know its a timeless classic and his best work

my favorite song is the one where in the video him Eiht are in the movie theater. His first 3 are all west coast classics tho.

You talkin bout...

Trigga Gots No Heart from Menace II Society soundtrack put Spice1 on a nationwide level

i remember those Columbia house & BMG catalogues (10 cds for a dollar), they always had that 187 He Wrote album

I prefer the nikka Gots No Heart version of that song, shyt sound so damn grimey like if you heard that song it meant nikkaz was bout to drop.

I couldn't tell you my favorite Spice joint, it's gotta be off Amerikkka's Nightmare tho. Prolly one of these:

tha Face of a Desperate Man video wuz dope as hell too..... takes me back to those days and how shyt wuz real then, before all this 3hunna crap

Spice 1 - Face Of A Desperate Man - YouTube

That's the main difference between then and now, you could hear the pain and the conflict of the gangsta nikka/hustler in the lyrics but people considered it glorifying a lifestyle, now the shyt that's out blatantly glorifies bullshyt but fukk it now it ain't that serious to bytch about for them fools. :why:

I've been a Spice 1 fan since the early 90's and always thought dude was one of the best doing his thing in the 90's. In my opinion, his first four (not including the ep) albums are all interchangeable. But I think I'd rank them like this:

3. AmeriKKKa's Nightmare
2. 187 He Wrote
5. 1900 Sick
1. Spice 1
4. The Black Bossalini
6. Immortalized

Spice 1 has one hell of an early catalog because in the 90's he was constantly releasing some great music.

Yeah, his catalog is really overlooked because dude was putting in a lot of work in the early to late 90's with his releases.

Spice's flow with the Jamaican accent is just :ooh::wow:

Absolutely. The first album is a classic ass gangster rap album. His stutter flow was dope.

Nikkaz lost it when we first heard that sh1t. Only other cat I heard spittin like that at the time, with the raggamuffin style was KRS. Spice even gave props to:krs: on influencing the style, which I thought was dope.

shyt was nuts, that hook :mindblown::damn:

Yeah, that's why it's so hard to rank his catalog because Spice 1 was constantly releasing great music. It's hard to say if certain albums of his from the 90's were better were better than other because the music was just that great. :mindblown:
