you build a team around melo the same way you build around paul pierce. realistically his role should be the same as pauls.

think about it

you got a tier 1 pg like rondo or westbrook
you got a shooter at the 2 like ray allen or harden
you got melo or pierce or durant who can play the shooter role until you need someoen to create offense out of broken plays.
you got a defensive stopper like garnett or ibaka who can also chip some low post point or 15 foot jumpers
and then you got perkins.
