Working with women has been pleasant for me. They usually come off as motherly.
Double edged sword though with that motherly thing. It can be a bit overwhelming at times. We have a food day, and I'm not particularly hungry at the moment, and here comes the hens to make sure I get a plate. Or I'm talking with a female coworker, or a female coworker walks by and stops to chat briefly at my cubicle. Soon as she leaves, the hens let me know their two cents about her. They notice what you wear, when you change up on what you wear, when you cut your hair, wanna know about your family and upbringing, etc. WTF after a while. Still, though it has it's benefits. Play that sh!t right and they'll do your work for you. Females are definitely the better gender to politic with on a lower level.
Regarding the OP's question, it depends on the woman. My current manager is a woman, and she's great. We're the same age, from somewhat similar backgrounds. She loves old school Hip Hop, always getting my advice on social matters like dating and what not. She looks out for me, and I appreciate it and look out for her. She's a Sister too, and not one of those Black women with a chip on their shoulder trying to outdo Hitler. She's extremely vulnerable, and at times I wonder if she's trying too hard to be the opposite of a stereotypical Black woman unnecessarily so.
On the other hand, on our floor, we've got a Director who's a female who I get along with well, white woman. She'll openly admit that she thinks everyone hates her, which is just about true. I don't answer to her which is great, but if I had to, I probably would find another job. Sh!t reminds me of what my father always says, "these white woman are a son of a gun." Ones in positions of authority can be. Feminism doesn't help either. They're all trying to outdo Stalin and Hitler. They can make you mad too. Mad enough to think Bill Cosby deserves an award for valor.
